Northern New England Recreation & Park Conference Teaches Professionals how to Respond to Changing Demographics, Cultural Shifts
Landscape Structures Inc., a Delano, Minn.-based commercial playground equipment manufacturer, along with its New England playground consultant, M.E. O’Brien & Sons, Inc., will exhibit at the Northern New England Recreation & Park Conference, taking place from January 6 to 8, 2015, in Bartlett, N.H. The conference will feature Dr. Nina S. Roberts, a professor at San Francisco State University in the Department of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism, as the keynote speaker. This learning experience was made possible through the 2014-2015 State Association Speaker Scholarship program from Landscape Structures.
Dr. Roberts is nationally recognized for her work revolving around race, class, and gender, focusing on issues related to the use and non-use/constraints in visiting parks and public lands. Her core focus is also meaningfully aligned with urban recreation and parks, as well as cultivating youth leaders through the spirit of outdoor adventure. Her presentation will discuss how to respond more effectively to changing demographics and cultural shifts occurring across the U.S. Additionally, she’ll explore the value of the work of parks and recreation professionals in relation to the nation’s political and social conditions. In maintaining the spirit of variation among delegates at the conference, Dr. Roberts will connect recreation, cultural diversity, and community contributions to enhance the quality of life for all.
