Florida Kiwanis Club Creates Destination Play Space for All Ages and Abilities
Kiwanis Club of Stuart Wins $25,000 from Landscape Structures, Kiwanis International
When Kali Flood joined a video call with Kiwanis International and Landscape Structures this week, she anticipated a few follow-up questions about the entry the Kiwanis Club of Stuart, Florida, submitted for a playground contest. The annual Legacy of Play contest, sponsored by Kiwanis International and Landscape Structures, awards US$25,000 in playground equipment to a Kiwanis club that best demonstrates the need for a new playground.
Flood raised her eyebrows and smiled from ear to ear when she learned her club won the contest.
“What? Oh my gosh, that is amazing,” Flood said. “Thank you so much. We had some stiff competition, and this is the best news!”
The club will install the playground equipment in Kiwanis Park in downtown Stuart, a place that Flood says is a sanctuary for Martin County families. It will provide an area for older children, completing the goal of giving children of all ages and abilities a safe and fun place to play.
