Circle K International to Build New Playgrounds at Two Vancouver Schools
June 18, 2013 —Circle K International (CKI) members, a global collegiate and university community service organization sponsored by Kiwanis International, are gearing up for a remarkable initiative to revamp the play areas of two schools in Vancouver. In partnership with Landscape Structures, renowned for its commitment to innovative playground equipment, and local consultants Habitat Systems Inc., CKI is mobilizing over 150 enthusiastic volunteers. From June 24 to 25, they will collaborate to install new playground equipment at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Elementary and Sir Wilfrid Laurier Annex.
The motivation behind this ambitious project stems from the pressing need to replace aging wooden play structures at both schools. These structures had raised safety concerns, leading to their scheduled removal. Without the intervention of CKI, Kiwanis, Landscape Structures, and Habitat Systems, the children at these schools would have been left without adequate playground equipment until sufficient funds could be raised.
This collaborative effort underscores the core mission of CKI, emphasizing community service and empowering young individuals to make a positive impact. By renovating these playgrounds, they not only ensure the safety of the children but also create vibrant, inclusive spaces for fun and learning. It's a testament to how collective action can lead to positive change within a community.
