Lucinda Garcia Park is a dedication to the history of Monrovia. The park is named after social justice activist Lucinda Valentina Garcia, a Monrovia resident who fought to end injustice and intolerance in the community. The park features the historic “red car” – a play version of an electric street trolly that was the main public transportation source for the area of Monrovia in the early 20^th century. The original tracks were taken up around 1952.

Kids will love this fantastic inclusive playground. Little kids, ages 2-5, can imagine they are taking a ride south in the “red car” -themed area for preschoolers. With a slide that’s sized just right for them, sensory panels and an imaginative ticket counter, they will explore and play to their hearts’ content.

Kids ages 5-12 will race to climb up the huge, double-decked PlayBooster® tower, perhaps by navigating the inside of the realistic Chimney® Rock climber. They will take a ride down a twisty or straight slide, or exit via the firepole. The arched net climbing structure will keep them occupied with its unique physical challenge. All kids can soar on the swing set, which offers accessible seating and a buddy-friendly Friendship® Swing, or take a break inside the calming Cozy Dome®.
